Terms & Conditions

Please read these terms & conditions of sale carefully before placing your order.
By placing an order you are accepting these terms & conditions.

Very simply we are an ethical business and we want our customers to be 100% happy with every item purchased from Alternative Stores
We want to be fair with customers & keep prices affordable. Placing an order with us means you agree to these terms & conditions.
Customers may return certain item for a full refund, minus delivery charges as stated below.
Customers must inform us immediately if they wish to return an item & then wait for a returns ref before returning goods.

Shoes & Clothing must be returned unworn and in a re-sellable condition within 14 days of delivery with the original packaging & boxes.
Shoes & clothing can be exchanged for another size if they do not fit.
If unsure of your size you can order multiple sizes & return the unwanted items for a refund.
We will send one exchange pair at no extra delivery cost if they do not fit (UK mainland only) however any second exchanges will be charged carriage.
Free returns are available to mainland UK customers only. Overseas & international customers are responsible for the cost of returning their purchases.
When trying on shoes please do so indoors, on a carpeted area with socks. Shoes with wear marks can not be returned or refunded.
Please note most shoe manufacturers do not firmly glue the innersoles into the shoes to allow them to be replaced when needed.
You may wish to adjust the innersole for comfort if it has moved during transportation.

Clearance Lines - Shoes & Clothing. Clearance products are usually end of line or discontinued items.
These may be returned to us for a refund but we do not offer a free exchange for an alternative size on clearance lines.
If you you do require an alternative size please contact us in advance to price postage costs.

Foods, Sweets and Grocery products cannot be returned to us for health and hygiene reasons.
Vitamins & Minerals etc must be returned un-opened, within 7 days of delivery, with the original packaging.

Chilled & Frozen Items. As these are time sensitive items they do need to be delivered on the first attempt.
Cutomers must make sure they are available to take in these orders on delivery. These orders will be left with a neighbour if possible or you can select a safe place for the parcel to be left via the dispatch email or My DPD app.
We can not take responsibility for chilled or frozen items if customers change the delivery date or are not in to accept these orders.


Returning Goods To Us.
If you would like to return an item to us please submit a returns request through the RETURNS
Do not return items until the system issues you with a return reference. The system will give you full directions on how to return your items.

Refunds, Replacements & Credit.
Refunds are usually processed in 10 - 14 days and at busy times may take longer but will be processed as quickly as we can.
Refunds may take up to 30 days to show on some card statements, this is due to certain card firms systems although usually they show in a few days.

Goods returned to us after 28 days of delivery will be offered replacements or credit.

Gift Vouchers.
Gift vouchers can be purchased as a gift and have no expiry date.
Please ensure you enter the receipients correct email address into our system when purchasing.
Gift vouchers can be used to purchases any items on our website or through our Newcastle Vegan Store.
We can not offer a refund on gift vouchers or refund the value of the voucher to another person.

Terms & Conditions For Delivery.
Delivery Addresses: It is essential that the complete delivery address is listed on your order including the correct postal code and a contact phone number.
Courier firms will not consider compensation for items sent with/to an incorrect address.
Alternative Stores or our couriers can not be held responsible for items lost due to an incorrect address being provided..

Goods are usually delivered using a courier. Deliveries take place between 7AM and 5PM Monday to Friday. Smaller items may be delivered by Royal Mail.
Please ensure the address provided is suitable for the goods to be delivered to and that a signature can be obtained on delivery.
Customers can give us directions to leave goods in a safe place on the condition that Alternative Stores and our couriers are not responsible for losses if your order then goes missing. We strongly suggest you use a work or neighbours address if your home address is not suitable for delivery during business hours.

If the courier misses you, usually they will attempt to deliver to a neighbour. If this is not possible a contact card is left for you to arrange a suitable delivery.
In the unlikely event of a customer not contacting the courier to arrange a redelivery, the order may be returned to us after 4 days & incur a charge for return delivery.
We ask you for your telephone number to help with your delivery.
Adding a mobile telephone number to your account/order allows us to also notify you by text, as well as by email, that your order is on its way.

Changing the delivery address after your goods have been dispatched:
It is very difficult and time consuming to change the delivery address once your order has been sent out and not always possible.
Changing the delivery address after dispatch may incurr an extra delivery charge by our couriers and we reserve the right to charge customers accordingly.

All customer outside of the UK are responsible for any import duties or taxes required by your country.
Alternative Stores are not liable for any delay caused by customs.
Customers must ensure the items they order are legal in their country, complying with all applicable laws.
Alternative Stores do not accept liablity for seizure or loss of any items that contraveins your countrieslaw.

We will not pass on your details or information to any other parties except to process & deliver your order.
We do ask for a telephone number to help the couriers to deliver your order. We do pass your telephone number and email to our couriers to notify you when your order is sent out and to help when there is an issue with delivery.
If you wish to unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time please click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email.

Discount Codes.
We occasionally offer discount codes which can be entered at the checkout.
These are sent out in our free email newsletter. You can sign up for it on the main page
Discount codes can only be used as directed.
We reserve the right to amend or withdraw discount voucher offers at any time.
